Ten Tiny Breaths by KA Tucker

Ten Tiny Breaths KA Tucker 5 STARS!!!!

Ten Tiny BreathsGoodRead Synopsis: Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table.  But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.
Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair. But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness

Wow. This was an absolutely amazing book. A Solid five star rating for so many reasons. This reminded me of Molly McAdams' book Taking Chances, where youre happy with everything thats moving a long in the book and then WHAM! the author throws in a twist and you are thinking to yourself "WTH" but OMG and I must continue reading! This is how I felt. I saw the twist coming slightly, but didnt expect the last portion of the book to turn out the way it did. But Im so happy with the ending. I must say this was a beautifully written book. One of the best writing techniques. I loved how sincere every moment felt, and how genuine the emotions were. So gritty and raw. So powerful. I havent read any of her other books, but I can say that this book is awesome!!!! I recommend anyone and everyone read this story.

KA Tucker has an amazing ability to write. I am astounded by the ability and inspired  Her characters feel so raw and genuine, her plot resonates with so many people, even if youre story isnt the same, you know it, you feel it and you can somehow relate. Beautiful. Everyone should read this book.

Plot
Kacey is trying to escape the pain and memories from home by running away with her sister to Miami, the problem she faces once there is that its more difficult to keep people out when everyone wants in. I think this story is so powerful. So many people have had the experience of something so painful that the pain is too much to let go of and you end up consumed with trying to keep from feeling that pain again. I think KA Tucker did a superb job of conveying Kacey as tough on the outside, but desperate and pained on the inside. He attitude was that of someone trying to hide the pain, he unwillingness to give in to temptation out of fear, and her desperate attempt to save her sister no matter what, all go to the true nature of someone who needs help healing.

From the beginning I was HOOKED. The plot doesnt truly require page turning and anticipation, but I had to keep reading. I was dying to know what happened to everyone in the end.

Not only was the plot entertaining and interesting, but the characters were all so integral to each moment. I enjoyed that the author included everyone and everything with a purpose.

I loved the twists and turns the story takes, love that develops in so many different ways, the fears that are overcome, by the different characters and the way the author weaves everything throughout the book so seamlessly you dont even notice whats happening until its all too late.

Characters

Kacey
Kacey is a great character. She is fearful yet fearless, beautiful, charismatic, she is sarcastic and witty, loving. She puts up a tough exterior, and uses sarcasm to avoid feeling or getting close to anyone because she doesnt want to get hurt. She lives every day for her sister, to provide for her. Kacey is the most real and genuine character I have ever read. She is honest. (And I dont mean to other people) I mean the author wrote an honest character who anyone who has every been hurt can relate to, anyone who has ever lost someone. Not only do I like Kacey as a character but I loved reading her character grow, and the experiences she goes through. The transformation Kacey makes is amazing her story is beautiful and I wish every book could be written as beautifully as this one.
Trent

Trent- Wow. Where to begin. He is gorgeous, sweet, kind and such a mystery. Trent. I dont even know what to say or where to begin. He was an amazing guy, strange (but only because he was a mystery) he was quite the golden boy in my eyes, and he could do no wrong. I figured out his role in the novel a bit earlier than I would have liked, but reading his story made me love him that much more!!! His love story with Kacey was sweetly built too. It was a connection and then some. And the epilogue!!! Ah I just loved this book so damn much :)

Storm and Mia and Livie
Mia
I really liked the supporting characters that were in this novel. A lot of times, I dont have a strong feeling one way or the other regarding the other people in a book, but this one was different. I really felt connected to every single character in the book. KA Tucker did an amazing job of weaving in the characters and getting the reader to fall in love with the same characters. She has mastered her skill of writing to get the reader to fall in love.
Storm
Storm is so strong and fierce, yet loving and kind, willing to do whatever it takes for those she loves. Something she has in common with Kacey. And she befriends Kacey and Livie even though Kacey isnt the nice new girl. She sees through the tough walls and layers Kacey built and does her best to pull them down. Her daughter Mia is a doll. Such a sweet loving little girl, who doesnt see bad in anyone.

Livie
And then there is Livie. Livie is so strong all on her own. Doing her best to get her sister Kacey to pull her shit together. She is smart and forgiving and loving. I dont think we get to know Livie that well in this book, but we see the tenderness and the care that she and Kacey share.
