Top Books of 2013

So I know this is a little late…but I feel like I should discuss my tops picks of 2013…I read over 100 books in 2013, but I don't blog about every single one. Honestly, I just don't have time with everything else on my plate. (sounds so cliche and drastic, but true…and granted my life is not nearly as busy as other bloggers, but hey I like my free time, can you blame me?!)

I also realize that I don't really do any personal blogging. Honestly, I think my personal life is too boring to write to people about. But hey, if people were interested, I would definitely do it. (I have plenty to talk about, kind of. Guess it just depends on what you like to read about !)

Anyway, back to my top picks. In the year 2013 I read 119 books! Holy crap thats a lot.  If you follow my blog, or even check in every once in a while, I tend to read young adult dystopian and new adult romance with some paranormal romance/dystopian thrown in there. For purposes of this post, Im not going to include books that are being released in 2014 that I read during 2013, thanks to net galley. I also want to note, that not all of these books came out in 2013, some of them came out before then, but I didn't read them until recently. I TRY to wait to read a series until the whole series is out, sometimes I get over anxious and give in (especially if I find a great deal) but I do try to avoid reading books when the others in a series are not available. If its a net galley review or a beta review then Ill read it before the series is finished.  I guess I should also note that these are not in any particular order.

Running on EmptyRunning on Empty by Colette Ballard--Poignant story about a girl goes on the run after her boyfriend is killed, with her best friends until she finds evidence that will prove her innocence. Beautifully written, and captivating, quite an emotional and powerful journey.

Crash into You (Pushing the Limits, #3)Crash into you- by Katie McGarry - Coming of age romance between two unlikely people who find they have more in common than the eye sees. Absolutely breathtaking and inspiring story, I felt as though I were part of the story, a fly on the wall. Emotional roller coaster, have tissues on hand.

The Curse Keepers (Curse Keepers, #1)Curse Keepers- By Denise Grover Swank-  two people with very different pasts are brought together by the curse which they ust break in this action, adventure, romance.  Lots of twists and turns throughout this book kept me on my toes and in the end, dying to read book 2 (out in May).

Tandem (Many-Worlds, #1)Tandem- Anna Jarzab- A sci-fi parallel universe story where action, adventure, lies, and romance are constantly at odds with one another! This one surprised me, it was dystopian and sci-fi but contained plenty of love and adventure, I loved every moment. Need Book 2! (out in 2014)

When the World Was Flat (and we were in love)When the World Was Flat- Ingrid Jonach-- a young adult romance angst story, with sic-fi elements woven into the story. While this book is slow, it is a touching story about young love attempting to conquer all, and always finding each other no matter what.

Losing Hope (Hopeless, #2)Losing Hope Colleen Hoover-  Losing hope is the sequel to Hopeless, though it does not need to be read before hand it is helpful. Losing Hope is Holder's side of the story, and told from his perspective. Beautifully written story about a guy coming to grips with the mistakes of his past, and letting go of all the guilt to fall in love.
Fall From Grace (Mad World, #1)
Fall From Grace Series- by Christine Zoldenz Beautifully written story following the love of a fallen angel, and the aftermath she is forced to deal with. Absolutely amazing series. I was completely drawn into this story and could not get enough. It had romance, and twists.

Eden (Eden, #1)Eden (Series Book 1 and 2) Keary Taylor--I absolutely love Keary Taylor. The new trilogy by Ms. Taylor re-invents her Eden Novel, a post apocalypse story where robotechnology have begun overtaking society (think zombies but instead robotics). Its an action intense trilogy with lots of twists and turns and plenty of romantic entanglements. (final book is also out I just haven't read it yet)

Dissever (Unbinding Fate, #1)Dissever (series book 1-3) Colee Firman-- A paranormal fantasy where the Akori are an ancient species living amongst humans, protected by humans, and they have special abilities, but this story quickly becomes an adventure adventure story with plenty of twists and plenty of romance. Ms. Firman takes her readers are a delightful adventure romance with a new species in a new world. (Book 4 is out but I have not read it yet)

Unraveling (Unraveling, #1)Unraveling (book 1 and 2)- Elizabeth Norris--a paranormal fantasy about parallel universes and that sometimes when two world converge together, the worlds really may come crashing down. This is a different type of parallel universe story with a lot of twists and tons of adventure. It is action packed with a touch of romance.

Ten Tiny Breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths, #1)Ten Tiny Breaths KA Tucker- Ten Tiny Breaths is about a young woman who struggles to deal with the aftermath of her parents untimely deaths, moving to Florida with her sister, and attempting to start over proves difficult when she begins to fall for her gorgeous neighbor, harboring a painful secret. TTB was by far one of the most moving stories I have EVER read. Be prepared for the roller coaster of emotions this story will take you on. One hell of a book, raw, inspiring and absolutely beautiful. a MUST READ.

Going UnderGoing Under S Walden--Wow. Going Under was an interesting story about a young girl who, after making some poor decisions, ended up transferring schools for her senior year to start over but ends up discovering a secret "slut league" and when she tries to help the girls, she finds herself facing even more trouble. This is a deeply moving, but painful story. This book addressees some very intense story lines and is not for the weak. It is an amazing story though of a brave girl who is willing to do anything for the truth. Even if it means sacrificing herself.

Unbroken (Beachwood Bay, #1)Unbroken- Melody Grace-- This was really interesting angst new adult romance novel.  A story about a girl torn between what she believes she is supposed to and what her heart asks her to do regarding her once upon a time love. The chemistry and passion between the main charters is palpable and beautiful. A fiery drama with tons of passion and heartbreak made this story really amazing for me.

Talented (Talented Saga, #1)Talented Series- Sophie Davis-- Talented series is a paranormal series surrounding the elite "talented" after a chemical contamination spill, people starting showing up with new abilities and talents, those with talents are brought to a school to learn to use the talents and help the government against their enemies. In this series, nothing is ever as it seems. There is plenty of action and romance. Ms. Davis, never misses a beat and I am never left unhappy! Truly a great series so far.

DaynightDaynight and Arbitrate- Megan Thompson--A young adult dystopian science fiction novel about second chances on Earth's polar opposite planet. This story follows a few main characters through the ups and downs of being a part of the second chance opportunity where they deal with the fall out of their decisions. Complete with romantic entanglements, humor, twists and turns and adventure.

Divergent (Divergent, #1)Divergent and Insurgent- Veronica Roth--This young adult dystopian adventure was amazing.  In this world, there are factions everyone lives in, its their role in society, there are five factions and everyone must chose which one to devote themselves to, each faction represents a particular virtue. This action adventure and romance novel takes the reader on a journey through this world where the factions aren't what they seem to be, and disarray and conflict continue to rise.

Seduced in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #2)
Captive in the Dark CJ Roberts--This is a dark erotica novel (not my usual type as you see, but it got rave reviews so I checked it out!) it is intense and not for the weak. It has explicitly graphic scenes that are quite disturbing at times. Olivia is taken hostage by Caleb, while in captivity Caleb works to break her so he can sell her as a sex slave, but somewhere along the way the two begin to fall for one another, against all reason…with some gruesome turns, this is one hell of a book. Never would I think I'd like this, and it was at times difficult to read it was also very well written and I felt emotionally attached to Olivia by the end of the book(s). Amazing. (
